Credit in Escrow is a process by which JJC awards math credit for students who meet specific criteria as outlined below:
- Student must have already earned 15 semester hours of college credit at JJC.
- Student must satisfactorily complete MATH 137, MATH 139, MATH 150, MATH 151, MATH 170, MATH 171, or MATH 172 as their first JJC math course and earn a “C” or higher and have already completed all of their high school math coursework.
- Enrollment in this first JJC math course must occur within two academic years of high school graduation.

Credit in Escrow Awarding Process
- Students must contact the Math Placement Specialist, or designee, to request this evaluation.
- Students must complete a Credit Authorization Form; this form may be found on the Mathematics Department webpage.
- If Credit in Escrow is approved, the Math Placement Specialist will begin process to notify appropriate parties so that any applicable credit will be awarded to the student's record within 30 days.
- Students can view the proficiency credit awarded on the Student Planning Module after 30 days.
Credit in Escrow Options
- MATH 137: If a student completes Math 137 (Introduction to Discrete Mathematics), the student may apply to receive four (4) hours of credit for mathematics courses taken in high school. This will be listed on the student’s JJC college transcript as Math 131 (College Algebra — 4 credit hours).
- MATH 139: If a student completes Math 139 (Pre-Calculus II: Trigonometry), the student may apply to receive four (4) hours of credit for mathematics courses taken in high school. This will be listed on the student’s JJC college transcript as Math 138 (Pre-Calculus I: Algebra — 4 credit hours).
- MATH 150: If a student completes Math 150 (Mathematical Analysis for Business), the student may apply to receive four (4) hours of credit for mathematics courses taken in high school. This will be listed on the student’s JJC college transcript as Math 131 (College Algebra — 4 credit hours).
- MATH 151: If a student completes Math 153 (Finite Mathematics), the student may apply to receive four (4) hours of credit for mathematics courses taken in high school. This will be listed on the student’s JJC college transcript as Math 131 (College Algebra — 4 credit hours).
- MATH 170: If a student completes Math 170 (Calculus I), the student may apply to receive eight (8) hours of credit for mathematics courses taken in high school. These will be listed on the student’s JJC college transcript as Math 138 (Pre-Calculus I: Algebra — 4 credit hours) and Math 139 (Pre-Calculus II: Trigonometry — 4 credit hours).
- MATH 171: If a student completes Math 171 (Calculus II), the student may apply to receive thirteen (13) hours of credit for mathematics courses taken in high school. These will be listed on the student’s JJC college transcript as Math 138 (Pre-Calculus I: Algebra — 4 credit hours), Math 139 (Pre-Calculus II: Trigonometry — 4 credit hours), and Math 170 (Calculus I — 5 credit hours).
- MATH 172: If a student completes Math 172 (Calculus III), the student may apply to receive seventeen (17) hours of credit for mathematics courses taken in high school. These will be listed on the student’s JJC college transcript as Math 138 (Pre-Calculus I: Algebra — 4 credit hours), Math 139 (Pre-Calculus II: Trigonometry — 4 credit hours), Math 170 (Calculus I — 5 credit hours), and Math 171 (Calculus II — 4 credit hours).
