JJC’s Welding Technology program is designed to prepare students for high-demand, high-wage occupations in the industrial welding sector.
Welding Technology
Architecture, Manufacturing & Automotive
According to the American Welding Society (AWS), half of our nation’s total gross national product includes welding work, products and services. Welding has become increasingly more technical and scientific in recent years.
What Will I Learn?
JJC's welding program prepares students for high-demand, high-wage occupations in the industrial welding sector. Students train for careers in the maintenance, structural or pipe welding fields.
A welder fuses materials, such as carbon steel, stainless steel and aluminum together to create mechanisms or to fix things that are broken. Basic welding skills are the same across industries, which means that welders can easily shift from one industry or location to another.
What is Unique About Our Welding Program?
Job opportunities are best for welders that are trained in the latest technologies. This training can be obtained at JJC's state-of-the-art welding facility.
With many welders from the Baby Boomer generation retiring and the manufacturing and construction industry rapidly expanding, there is a high amount of job opportunities for welders. According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), hourly salary ranges for a well-trained welder could range from $19.70 an hour to more than $30 an hour.
If you enjoy building or repairing machines or other structures, figuring out how things work and solving hands-on mechanical problems, this pathway is for you.
