Associate in Arts

This degree prepares students who are planning to transfer to a four-year school.

Associate in General Studies

The associate in general studies degree allows students to take a variety of classes and interests. This degree may or may not transfer.

Associate in Science

The associate in science degree prepares students who are planning to transfer to a four-year school.

Accounting, AAS or Certificate of Achievement

This program prepares students to enter employment in introductory levels of accounting. Education provided in financial and managerial accounting through intermediate levels. Tax accounting is also included in the accounting education. Some business education is also included.

Administrative Professional, Certificate of Completion (law office concentration only)

This certificate offers a stackable credential to the associate of applied science degree. The curriculum includes the latest technology and skills needed for employment in a wide variety of office positions including administrative, medical and legal support staff. 

Business Administration, AAS

A degree in business administration prepares graduates to become creative problem solvers in their workplaces. Students pursuing this associate degree will learn about accounting, economics, business law, management, finance, marketing and computer applications.

Business Core, Certificate of Completion

Designed for students who have completed a degree in liberal arts/sciences or in a technical field, this certificate focuses on foundational business disciplines. This certificate will prepare students for a transition into a business-related career.

Child Development Professional, Certificate of Completion & Certificate of Achievement

This certificate will provide the individual with basic knowledge regarding health, safety and teaching practices to meet the needs of young children. This certificate prepares the candidate for the Illinois Gateways ECE Credential Level II, and entry level positions in the early childhood field.

Computer Programming, AAS

This degree prepares students to work in today’s technologically advanced industries. Students will receive hands-on training while exploring a variety of computer programming, including Java, C++ or Visual Basic. Students may specialize in a specific language by selecting appropriate sequences.

Customer Service, Certificate of Completion

This certificate provides students with specialized information relating to anticipated customer needs, products/services, how to process orders and returns and resolve complaints. Students will receive a solid foundation in business communication, human relations and customer services.

Entrepreneurship, Certificate of Completion

This certificate is designed for students who want to own their own businesses. Students will take basic courses that give a background in accounting, business and management.

Hospitality Management, AAS or Certificate of Completion

Students pursuing a certificate or degree in this program will learn the basic skills needed to become a supervisor or manager in the hospitality industry. Faculty use real world examples to help students learn the fundamentals of the hotel Industry, the restaurant industry, and the meetings industry. 

Hotel Management, Certificate of Completion

Earning this certificate prepares individuals for technical and supervisory positions within the hotel/lodging industry.

Library Technical Assistant, Certificate of Completion

This certificate recognizes the need for skilled paraprofessional workers in today’s libraries and offers students the opportunity to acquire, develop or update their job skills. By providing a comprehensive overview of all facets of library work, students are trained for a modern information career where they are an integral part of a library team. 

Management Information Systems, AAS and Certificate of Achievement

This degree/certificate prepares students for careers in the field.  MIS professionals combine computer technology with management decision-making methods to implement computerized information systems.

Management and Supervision, AAS and Certificate of Achievement

This degree/certificate uses contemporary managerial theories to train new and existing supervisors how to apply the managerial functions of planning, organization, leadership, communication and goal setting in an effective manner.

Microsoft Specialist Cert, Occupational  Certificate

The Microsoft Specialist Cert program prepares students to successfully pass the Microsoft Office Specialist certification exam giving them the edge in a competitive job market. Certification demonstrates specialized competence in Microsoft’s Office software suite.

Supply Chain Management, Certificate of Completion & Certificate of Achievement

These certificates emphasize the essentials of supply chain management, the transportation and distribution process, cargo security compliance and import/export fundamentals. Students will learn the professional business and communications skills required to excel in the field.

Web Accessibility Specialist, Certificate of Completion  

This program will prepare students to build websites, modify non-compliant website to adhere to the federal requirements of Section 508, under the ADA laws. Students will learn the latest initiates and specifications under the web accessibility initiative (WAI) and web content accessibility guideline (WCAG). 

Hybrid Programs

The following programs are mostly online but require one or more hybrid (on-campus or at another JJC location) course.

Artificial Intelligence & Cloud Integration, Certificate of Completion

This certificate program aims to equip students with foundational knowledge and practical skills in cloud computing and artificial intelligence. Participants will gain a comprehensive understanding of cloud infrastructure, services, and deployment models, as well as the ability to leverage AI tools for data analysis, machine learning, and natural language processing. The program focuses on developing proficiency in managing cloud environments, optimizing cloud resources, and implementing AI-driven solutions to solve real-world problems. Through hands-on projects and interactive learning, students will be prepared to harness the power of cloud technology and AI to drive innovation and efficiency in various industries. 

Cisco Network Associate (CCNA), Certificate of Completion

The Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) Certificate is designed for Cisco Networking Academy participants who are seeking entry-level jobs in the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) industry or hope to fulfill prerequisites to pursue more specialized ICT skills. The CCNA Certificate validates a broad range of fundamentals for all IT careers networking topics including: network fundamentals, network access, IP connectivity, IP services, security fundamentals, automation and programmability. This certificate is a stackable credential within the CO238- Information Networking Technology AAS degree. 

Full Stack Developer, Certificate of Completion

This certificate will teach you the technical aspects of dynamic content-based web development. You will learn: skills necessary to create websites with the latest in HTML and CSS standards, front- and back-end coding for both client and server communications while connecting to databases to dynamically obtain and update the content, and the latest in cloud computing and web server administration.

Game Design and Development, AAS and Certificate of Achievement

Students in the JJC Game Design and Development program learn the skills and techniques to design and to make video games. They will get hands-on experience with the following types of software: Maya (to develop 3D models and animations for games) and game engines, such as UnReal UDK, GameMaker, Unity and RPG Maker (programs to develop video games).

IT Automation & Security, Certificate of Completion

This certificate allows students the opportunity to complete coursework that provides training for internationally recognized certifications in Information Technology. The Cisco Certified Network Associate (CCNA) is suitable for persons trying to land an IT job or for career advancement. The CCNA-Security is recognized by both the U.S. National Security Agency (NSA) and the Committee on National Security Systems (CNSS) and validates a candidate’s skill set in secure communications.

Medical Coding Specialist, Certificate of Achievement

JJC’s Medical Coding Specialist program prepares students for a career as a medical coder. Upon completion of the program, graduates will possess the skills necessary for entry-level coding positions in the healthcare industry.

Network Security Foundation, Certificate of Completion

This pathway is designed to provide students with a foundational understanding of network security concepts and skills. Students in this pathway will learn essential security concepts and skills necessary for configuring and troubleshooting computer networks. This includes understanding various aspects of network security, such as encryption, authentication, access control, and more. One of the key goals of this pathway is to help students ensure the integrity of devices and data on computer networks.

Social Media Specialist, Certificate of Completion

This certificate will give you the skills to improve a company’s web and social media presence, understand the language of human computer interactions, learn strategies for search engine optimization (SEO), increase awareness of the company’s website, take website content to a new level through customer engagement strategies and understand the basics of web design.

Web Design, Certificate of Completion

JJC’s web design certificate focuses on: the code that supports HTML pages, the CSS that drives the visual design, user experience (UX), and design strategies. Upon completion, you will be able to work with clients, create wireframe layouts, propose prototypes, create visual animations, and perform the tasks of a web designer.

Web Developer & UX Designer, Certificate of Achievement

Introduces students to the technology and skills needed to be a front-end and full-stack web developer.  Students will learn how to develop websites based on trending interactive visual design principles, web accessibility, and scripting/programming languages.  Students will learn to build on foundation of HTML and CSS while incorporating the WCAG accessibility standards, to publish cloud-hosted, database integrated, dynamic web sites.

Associate in Science (AS)

Best for transfer to a four-year university with a major in mathematics, sciences or technology.

Associate in General Studies (AGS)

The AGS is not a transfer degree and may not transfer to other institutions.

Associate in Applied Science (AAS)

Intended to prepare students for employment in a specific field.

Certificate of Achievement (CAC)

Designed for students looking to gain valuable experience, increase a skill set and meet career goals. (30-50 credit hours needed)

Certificate of Completion (CCO)

Designed for students looking to gain specific skill sets or expand current skills for employment. (4-29 credit hours needed)
