What Will I Learn?
The JJC Web Design program provides students with the foundations of web page creation, programming, and management involved in creating websites. Students learn state-of-the-art programming languages to create interactive websites with dynamic content.
Courses explore the latest technological advances in hardware and software, including the Adobe Master Suite. Subjects include the latest updates in HTML, CSS, WCAG web accessibility standards, bootstrap, jQuery and cloud server administration.
What is Unique About Web Design & Social Media?
Students in our program learn how to create exceptional web content and design programming skills that set them above and apart in the competitive web design market. The immense growth of the digital world has created a need and opportunity for web design majors.
This major allows students to choose a concentration that best fits their desired career goals. Those who focus on web development will learn the most desired programming languages such as C++, JavaScript, Python, PHP and .Net. Those interested in social media will focus on best practices for business use, SEO optimization, human computer interaction (HCI) and web development on platforms like Drupal, WordPress and the latest CMS platforms.
Students from other majors can also take courses in this area to become freelance website creators.
What Are My Career Opportunities?
According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, employment of web developers and digital designers is projected to grow 8 percent from 2019 to 2029, much faster than the average for all occupations.
Demand will be driven by the growing popularity of mobile devices and e-commerce. In 2020, the median salary for a web developer was $77,200 per year.
