Job Description:
Plan monthly parent events
Provide tours of the center, be sure to thoroughly explain polies and procedures
Ensure accuracy of all new paperwork of children’s files and keep them up to date by using Procare.
Maintain a full enrollment at the center.
Billing and payments must be kept up to date.  Late fees must be added and policies enforced.
Work with children and families with special needs.
Provide referrals as needed.
Remain alert and report signs of abuse or neglect.
Monthly newsletters must be sent out.
Encourage parent involvement.
Follow through with all parent concerns.
Keep a log of new enrollment inquires and be sure to follow up.





Staff Responsibilities
Show a desire to keep staff motivated to ensure they are performing their jobs correctly.
Understand and enforce the creative curriculum
Understand and enforce the use of the Ages and Stages Screening tool.
Staff to ensure proper ratios, cost effective combing of classrooms and arrange substitute staff as needed.
Plan monthly staff meetings.
Ensure accuracy of all new paperwork of staff files.
Perform yearly staff evaluations
Hire staff as needed and economically feasible.
Terminate staff when needed.
Enforce that staff are following their daily schedules and lesson plans.
Ensure staff is following dress codes.
Orientation should be performed with all new staff.


Professional Duties
Work cooperatively with other staff, parents and outside consultants.
Read and follow all DCFS standards.
Read and follow all Playhouse Academy policies and procedures.
Comply with all NAC accreditation standards.
Be respectful and courteous to parents, staff and children.  
Maintain confidentiality with all information that is obtained at the center.  
Attend all meetings, seminars, and workshops punctually and be present and ready to learn.
Stay current on trends in the Early Childhood field such as Gateways, INCCRRA, curriculum and discipline.
Be sure the center is inviting and has a pleasant odor.  It should be well organized and not cluttered.  This includes playgrounds and parking lots.
Maintain a good public image.
Remain flexible in hours and duties performed in order to make the center run efficiently.
Communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Utilize time effectively.
Exhibit a genuine interest in always improving the center and quality of care the children receive.
Maintain good working relationship with other Directors.
Seek out radio and newspaper exposure.
Participates in community activities.


Paperwork Compliance
Complete all necessary paperwork associated with the CACFP including enrollment forms, eligibility forms, and meal counts, end of the month reconciliation and submission of claim.
Be knowledgeable about IDHS and DCFS subsidy paperwork to help parents fill out needed paperwork to start and maintain eligibility.  Submit all claim forms and track until payment is received, checked and entered.
Do monthly budget.
Perform all paperwork required by DCFS
Perform all duties on the weekly and monthly checklists.
Keep staff board current and appealing.
Conduct yearly staff and parent NAC surveys.
Keep accurate filings and maintain all records as required.
Maintain all required postings.

Job Requirements:
Base Requirements
Pass background clearance through fingerprinting
21 years of age.
Maintain a complete, current DFCS file
Complete all required orientation from DCFS and Playhouse Academy, LLC.
Attend monthly staff meetings
DCFS physical and TB test (physical repeated every 2 years) with MMR & TDap
Staff shall be able to demonstrate: 
Emotional maturity when working with children
Cooperation with the purposes and services of the program
Respect for children and adults
Flexibility, understanding and patience
 Physical and mental health that do not interfere with child care responsibilities
Good personal hygiene
Frequent interaction with children
Listening skills, availability and responsiveness to children
Sensitivity to children's socioeconomic, cultural, ethnic and religious backgrounds, and individual needs and capabilities
Use of positive discipline and guidance techniques
 Ability to provide an environment in which children can feel comfortable, relaxed, happy and involved in play, recreation and other activities
Skills to help children meet their developmental and emotional needs
Skills in planning, directing, and conducting programs that meet the children's basic needs.






Education Requirements
A high school diploma or GED
64 Semester hours with 21 in ECE and a Director I credential or 3 hours in admin classes/ leadership/management or associates in ECE/CD
Complete continuing education requirements every year
Current Food Service Sanitation license
Maintain current CPR and first aid.  This training is free and your time is paid, if it is completed through Playhouse Academy.  If you fail to go to your scheduled training date, you will be required to get the training on your own within 30 days from that training date.
