Join us for the Joliet Junior College Community Band's spring concert, Celebrating American Composers.
Under the direction of Charles Morgan, director of bands, this concert promises an inspiring afternoon of exceptional music. The program opens with a dynamic selection of works showcasing the depth and diversity of American band literature, including "George Washington Bicentennial March" by John Philip Sousa, "Appalachian Spring" by Aaron Copland, "Sacrifice" by Julie Giroux and Randall Standridge's energetic "Animation." These pieces highlight the ensemble's versatility and the expressive power of concert band performance.
Following intermission, the celebration continues with "Eternal Flame" by Brian Balmages, "Arlington" by Paul Murtha, Randal Bass's exciting arrangement of music from the classic film "Silverado," selections from John Williams's "Superman" and the beloved American march, "The Stars and Stripes Forever." This season marks the 47th anniversary of the JJC Community Band, a proud tradition of musical excellence.
