Performs building and grounds custodial and maintenance duties at various Sheriff's facilities, as assigned.
Performs bio-hazard cleaning as needed.
Safe use of a variety of cleaning and moving equipment (e.g. carpet extractor, shampooer, vacuum, wet/dry vacuum, variable speed floor scrubber, buffer, forklift, etc.).
Clean and maintain custodial equipment (i.e. Carpet extractor, Floor scrubber, Buffer).
Move dumpsters and pallets of supplies using forklift.
Inspects facility to note and report needed repairs.
Keeps assigned facility or area supplied with needed equipment and supplies.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Reports to maintenance supervisor.
Experience
Ability to work outdoors in inclement weather.
Ability to walk or stand for long periods of time.
Ability to push and/or pull objects weighing up to 100 pounds, for distances of up to 50 feet (e.g., food carts, garbage dumpsters).
Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to 40 pounds, for distances up to 25 feet (supplies, boxes of copy paper, 5-gallon water bottles, etc.).
Ability to bend, stretch, stoop, reach and climb (stairs and step ladder).
Ability to operate floor scrubbers, polishers, vacuum cleaners, carpet cleaners, wet/dry vacuum, lawnmowers, trimmers, use hand tools and other related equipment.
Read, understand, and interpret written information (e.g., operation manuals, labels for various cleaning and chemical agents, MSDS sheets, policies, and procedures).
Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
Ability to adapt to changes in job priorities.
Work record, including tardiness and absenteeism
Valid Illinois Driver's License
Must have high school diploma or GED.
No felony convictions.
Be able to work overtime.
Neat and clean appearance.
Good work record and attendance record.
