Reports To: Grundy County Sheriff

FLSA Status: Full-Time, 40 hours per week, Non-Exempt

Salary Range: $17.00 per hour

SUMMARY

Performs a wide variety of clerical and secretarial duties associated with the responsible processing and maintenance of official, confidential records and documents.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive.

Answers the telephone, takes, and relays messages; screens administrative calls; responds to telephone inquiries when possible; forwards call to appropriate party.
Receives and screens visitors.
Process payments for administrative tow, fingerprinting, civil process, and copy fees from the public and provides receipt.
May perform duties such as organizing and maintaining files: traffic records; logs statistical information pertaining to traffic citations, warnings, and Notice to Appear, and Investigations case files.
Maintains knowledge of current record techniques and information
Assists records supervisor with records retention and disposal.
Trained and assist in Body Camera video redactions.
Maintains State LEADS certification.
Maintains FOIA Officer certification- respond to requests received in accordance with the law.
Assist the public with accessing accident reports.
Enter data- Including but not limited to citations, written warnings, verbal warnings.
Works and collaborates with outside agencies in a professional manner.
Cross trained for Civil Process Clerk duties.
Perform other clerical duties as assigned including miscellaneous records and data entry as assigned.
Locks up building at end of shift to include the front doors. Requires staying late when necessary to serve the public.
Enter extra patrol requests for the public when requested.
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed instructions.
Ability to deal with problems involving variables and standardized situations.
Provide temporary coverage for other office and secretarial staff positions as needed to cover vacation/sick/personal time-off.
QUALIFICATIONS:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required at the time of hire or for the continuation of employment.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:

· High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)

· Minimum of 1 year experience in a clerical position and/or training with courses in typing, computer skills, and general office procedures

· Good oral communication skills

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

· Knowledge of basic office equipment and have experience with Microsoft office programs

· Good written and verbal communication skills with a wide variety of people

· Follow direction and work independently

· Deal with difficult people using strong customer service skills

· Multi-task with good attention to detail

· Apply common sense understanding to carry out written and verbal instructions

· Work effectively under stress
Ability to effectively solve problems while maintaining good judgment and self-control.

· Maintain confidentiality
