The Center for Multicultural Access and Success primarily helps the following types of students:

We'll help you become engaged, empowered and excited about your college journey. We can help you in the following ways:

  1. One-on-one meetings with our advisors to make sure you're on the right track. Not sure how financial aid works? Confused about the transfer process? You're never alone - our advisors will be your guide and can connect you to the services you need.
  2. Participate in our workshops. Check out our events to see what programs we are offering. Get the best advice for studying, learn how to develop leadership skills and more.
  3. Accessible resources. We offer free tutoring, advocacy for undocumented students, cultural enrichment activities and much more.

    How to Apply if You Do Not Have a Social Security Number

    1. Call (815) 280-6709 or email cmas@jjc.edu for assistance.
    2. What to Do After You Apply: Upon acceptance into Joliet Junior College (JJC) and after the creation of your new student account, JJC will send an email to the personal email address you provided in your application, containing your new JJC email address. Refer to the New Account Setup page for instructions on ID lookup and password setting.
    3. Ask your high school to send us your official, sealed high school transcript or high school equivalency record (GED, HiSET, TASC). Transcripts can be sent to admissions@jjc.edu
    4. Visit our Admitted Students page and follow all of the steps.

DeAndre R. Butler is a TRIO/Student Support Services alum from Northern Illinois University. At NIU, he achieved his bachelor’s degree in sociology. In 2007, Butler landed his first job in the higher education field at Colorado Technical University Online, as an Admissions Advisor. He decided to further his education in higher ed and student affairs and graduated with a master's degree in education from NIU in 2010. 

Butler was born and raised in Harvey, Illinois and came from a first-generation and low-income household where he was the first in his family to graduate with his bachelor’s. He is very committed to his work with JJC Student Support Services. Butler is a strong believer in assisting students on being successful while attending JJC so that they can graduate and transfer. He is actively involved with organizations, clubs and committees for the benefit of his students and department.
