Building a Welcoming Campus and Community

Dedicated to providing an environment that inspires acceptance, inclusion and mutual respect.

The programs developed and facilitated by JJC’s Office of Inclusive Excellence and Advocacy are designed to create meaningful connections and strengthen both campus culture and community partnerships.

Programs and Initiatives

  • Employee Book Club

Employee Book Club offers employees a space for thoughtful dialogue on current issues through shared reading and diverse perspectives.

  • Peace Circles

Peace circles create inclusive spaces for honest dialogue, relationship-building, and community connection, supporting conflict resolution, decision-making, and a sense of belonging.

  • Table Talks

Open to all employees, this forum invites discussion on key topics suggested by staff and leadership, while providing updates and engagement from college leaders.

  • JJC Community Dinner

The JJC Community Dinner, hosted by OIEA, welcomes community members, key stakeholders, and business partners to share a meal and hear from college leaders about JJC’s ongoing work and impact in the region.

  • Professional Development

JJC offers cultural competency and other workshops to help employees build skills to create an inclusive campus culture.

  • Employee Resource Group

An Employee Resource Group (ERG) is a voluntary, employee-led group that brings together staff and faculty around shared interests, identities, or experiences to foster connection and support across the campus.

  • Chamber & Partner Engagement

Participation in community organizations such as chambers and business groups allows JJC employees to serve on boards, volunteer locally, and strengthen relationships with key stakeholders and partners.

  • President’s Council of Inclusive Excellence and Advocacy

The President's Inclusive Excellence & Advocacy Council supports campus-wide inclusion efforts by promoting practices and facilitating projects that make JJC a welcoming, safe, and supportive environment for all members of the college community.
