Job Description:
The Service Writer serves as the primary communication link between clients, technicians, and management, ensuring all service and repair work is accurately documented, scheduled, and communicated. This role reports directly to the Senior Service Manager and Service Director and is a key contributor to the financial success of the service department, with billing accuracy, customer satisfaction, and workflow organization as core responsibilities. The ideal candidate brings a positive, professional customer service attitude and thrives in a fast-paced, detail-driven environment.
Serve as the primary point of contact for yacht owners, captains, and management companies.
Deliver a consistently professional, helpful, and solutions-oriented customer service experience.
Manage customer expectations by clearly communicating timelines, costs, and service progress.
Prepare, review, and process service invoices with a high level of accuracy.
Capture and document all labor, parts, and subcontractor charges.
Review time entries, job costing, and parts usage to ensure complete and accurate billing.
Resolve billing questions and discrepancies promptly and professionally.
Create and maintain detailed work orders, estimates, and service records.
Track multiple active jobs and maintain organized digital and paper files.
Assist in scheduling and coordinating service workflow.
Demonstrate strong computer skills, including proficiency with service management software, invoicing systems, and Microsoft Office (or similar platforms).
Use digital tools to track jobs, billing, communication, and reporting with accuracy and efficiency.

Job Requirements:
Strong computer skills and comfort working in service management software and office applications.
Excellent customer service attitude with a focus on professionalism, empathy, and problem-solving.
High-level organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
Strong attention to detail, especially related to documentation and billing accuracy.
Previous experience in marine, automotive, or technical service environments is a plus.
Maintain a positive attitude in high-pressure situations.
