        DESCRIPTION OF POSITION
The Quality/Patient Safety Specialist RN works collaboratively with leaders, physicians, and staff to improve processes and patient care. This may include facilitating continuous quality improvement teams/projects, assisting with implementation of improvement strategies, data design collection, measurement and analysis, meaningful communication/presentation of findings and improvement action plans to appropriate committees, entering data into databases, and medical record review. Participates in survey preparedness and all aspects of patient safety initiatives. Facilitates all Medical Studies Review activities. Coordinates the activities of the Patient Safety Committee.

        QUALIFICATIONS
Professional/Educational
Current IL RN license.
Bachelor's degree.
At least 2 years of recent clinical, performance improvement process, or risk management or patient safety experience preferred.
Computer literacy, keyboarding ability, and a broad-based knowledge of applications including Windows, word processing, database, spreadsheet, and graphics programs.
CPPS preferred or willing to obtain within a year of eligibility.
DCFS Mandated Reporter Certificate of Completion required.

Participates as requested in quality and performance improvement activities.
Demonstrates a commitment to quality service for physicians, staff, patients and visitors.
