Job Description | Job Summary: Primarily responsible for the coordination of billing and collecting city water accounts and the provision of front counter and telephone customer service, this individual must work efficiently in various computer software programs, can explain policy and procedure, work well within established deadlines, and have appositive public presence. Performs a wide variety of clerical functions that require the application of independent judgment and the interpretation of policies and regulations. Essential Job Functions: · Answer telephones to assist callers and provide general information to the public · Greet and assist walk-in clients and customers · Transfer mete information to individual accounts and prepare quarterly billings · Maintain customer account records · Generate customer bills for final readings · Operate computer billing and meter maintenance software to generate customer bills and reports · Organize and maintain Water Department files and accounts · Become proficient with Water Department rules and regulations and procedures · Perform other related duties as assigned · Analyzing and interpreting data |
Job Requirements | Residency Requirements: Within one year from the date of hire, all employees in the bargaining unit shall establish and maintain residency within five miles of the City Hall of the City of Morris. Experience: · Bookkeeping/Accounting experience desirable · Demonstration of Skills and Abilities · Ability to use computer for word processing, billing, and spreadsheets · Ability to maintain records and files and assemble data for reports · Ability to exercise good judgment and tact · Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality of information · Ability to work with minimal direction and supervision · Ability to effectively communicate with the public and handle customer questions, issues, and complaints · Ability to effectively communicate with other employees · Proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet programs and computer equipment · Must be punctual, neat, and able to write legibly This position offers an opportunity to work in an office environment with a focus on providing exceptional customer service.
