Primary Responsibilities:

The Cook is dedicated to providing the highest quality of care in a loving and safe environment for all of our residents, while helping each of them to achieve their maximum potential. We are committed to be a resource for the families of our residents who have entrusted us with their care. We will empower our staff by providing them with a motivating and supportive work environment.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

1) Prepare, serve, and handle food in accordance with federal and state regulations and the residence policies and procedures.

2) Maintain clean and sanitized dining service areas and assist in the receiving, rotation, and storage of products.

3) Identify and report food and supplies needed for next week’s menus.

4) Present food in an appetizing and attractive manner.

5) Ensure that food is delivered on time and in a pleasant manner.

6) Visit with residents at each meal when available and ensure quality service.

7) Prepare food and coordinate food service for special events as requested.

8) Notify food service director of any malfunctioning kitchen equipment or appliances.

9) Ensure compliance with state regulations.

10) Maintain a clean, organized, and safe kitchen environment.

11) Ensure proper storage and handling of food in accordance with infection control standards.

12) Perform all other duties as assigned.
Qualifications and Skills Required:

1) At least one year experience in senior living - preferred.

2) Food Handler – certification.

3) Ability to handle multiple priorities.

4) Must have compassion and empathy for seniors and desire to work with seniors.

5) Self-directed, demonstrating initiative and follow-through

6) Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills.

7) Must have the ability to read, write and follow written direction in the English language.

8) Ability to timely and effectively follow up on all necessary requests from residents and families.

9) Maintain and encourage a positive work atmosphere by communicating in a manner that fosters cooperation.

10) Ability to handle stressful situations and work well under pressure.

11) Ability to recognize and communicate problems with Executive Director/Fodd Service Director.

Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
