Summary
The Manufacturing Technician role is responsible for initial set up of injection molding presses, vision/automatic assembly equipment, and auxiliary automation. The position also ensures maximum efficiencies are achieved while producing quality product to customer specifications, follows all business and safety guidelines, and assists as needed in other areas of manufacturing.

Essential Functions

Typical duties include mold set-up and processing of injection molding machines, equipment troubleshooting and minor repairs, preventive maintenance, quality checks, material handling including filling and emptying machine hoppers, housekeeping and operator instructions
Maintain proper operation of equipment to include verifying set-up parameters of process as well as condition of machine; periodically checking that machine cycle time and yields are met, quality of parts and overall consistency of process
Perform other production functions such as machine operation, press assignments, operator relief, shipping (including labeling and computer interface) etc. as directed
Assist in monitoring material; ensure inventory of raw materials and finished goods
Has authority and responsibility to stop molding process due to quality concerns
Maintain set up sheets and production records; completes necessary paperwork timely and accurately
Recommend cost saving improvements, labor and ergonomic improvements
Communicates issues, concerns, and shop floor status to all appropriate personnel and supporting departments (i.e. Quality, Tooling, Maintenance, Automation, etc.)
Handles immediate building, production, and employee related issues appropriately as instructed
Attend daily production meetings to assess/understand priorities
Set up, start up, shut down and cycle a variety of injection molding presses and auxiliary equipment to standards
Troubleshoot and solve molding process conditions to ensure quality and prevent non- conformance
Perform machine adjustments for a variety of engineering grade materials
Adjust, maintain, and troubleshoot automated equipment to maximize utilization
Accurately records use of spare parts to guarantee proper inventory is maintained
Train new/current employees in basic machine operations to increase machine knowledge and maximize operator utilization
Ensures good housekeeping and organization of production floor
Follows all safety guidelines
Required Education and Experience

High school diploma or GED
2-4 years related experience, training, or equivalent combination of education and experience in plastic injection molding and automated assembly/testing production equipment
Demonstrated ability to resolve manufacturing, maintenance, tooling, and automation issues through both management direction and independent analysis
RJG Master Molder preferred but not required
Basic knowledge of vision system and automation troubleshooting
Must possess excellent visual skills for assessing functionality of equipment, above basic mathematical skills and reasoning ability
