Position Overview
The Division of Mental Health is seeking to hire an independent, highly organized, and detail-oriented Licensed Registered Nurse for the Chicago-Read Mental Health Center located in Chicago, Illinois. This position will be responsible for performing direct nursing care for people with mental illness on an assigned shift. The successful candidate shall demonstrate a valid Illinois License and good oral and written communication skills, be a self-starter, and be able to carry out nursing assignments pursuant to the direction of medical personnel.
Job Responsibilities
1. Utilizing the nursing process, assesses, plans, implements, and evaluates the delivery of nursing care for patients receiving health care services on an assigned shift.
2. Serves as designated lead worker to lower-level staff.
3. Provides report to staff and to the oncoming lead worker to ensure continuity of care.
4. Participates in meetings and discussions with clinical, medical, administrative, and other staff.
5. Monitors the use of appropriate techniques to ensure a safe, secure therapeutic and sanitary environment of care and general performance of duties.
6. Completes mandatory training requirements and participates in continuing education workshops and seminars to maintain age and disability-specific professional competency through observation and evaluation.
7. Attends ongoing education programs mandatory and optional in-service programs
8. Performs other duties as required or assigned which are reasonably within the scope of the duties enumerated above.
Conditions of Employment
1. Requires the ability to work after business hours, weekends, and holidays on a rotation basis.
2. Requires the ability to serve on an on-call basis.
3. Requires the ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
4. Requires ability to acquire and maintain Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certificate.
5. Requires the ability to utilize office equipment, including personal computers, and basic computer skills.
6. Requires the ability to travel.
7. Requires the ability to meet all agency vaccine/health-related policies and guidance.
8. Requires the ability to pass the IDHS background check.
9. Requires ability to pass a drug screen for drugs prohibited from recreational use under Illinois Law.
