    Position Overview
    The Illinois Department of Human Services (IDHS) is seeking a Director for the Division of Developmental Disabilities. Serves as Director of the Division of Developmental Disabilities (DDD). Formulates programs and program policies that impact and control State-operated and community-based facilities and programs, directs and establishes standards of service for Department recipients and community-based services; directs the examination of service trends and policy options designed to address current and future service system needs and methods to address such needs; facilitates the development and application of new concepts for professional care and treatment of persons with developmental disabilities. Is responsible for all administrative and managerial aspects of the division.
     
    Job Responsibilities
    1.  Acts as a policy-making official.
    2. Serves as Director of the Division of Developmental Disabilities.
    3. Formulates programs and program policies that impact, and control State Operated and Community based facilities and programs.
    4. Establishes programmatic standards of service for developmental disability services and programs, both state-operated, and community funded.
    5. Directs and coordinates the provision of individual client services under the Department's purchase or care program which includes client eligibility determination, resource utilization, and consultation with community services providers.
    6. Appears with and for the Department before legislative committees on proposed legislation and programmatic issues.
    7. Manages a budget of $2.58 and 4,000 staff members.
    8. Performs other duties as assigned or required which are reasonably within the scope of duties enumerated above.

    1.  Requires knowledge, skill, and mental development equivalent to completion of four (4) years of college with significant course work in rehabilitation, social welfare, social work, or a closely related human services field.
