Chamber Singers and Chorale Concert

This captivating concert will offer a rich tapestry of musical genres, ranging from classical masterpieces to contemporary pieces, promising an enriching experience for all attendees.

Prepare to be transported by the timeless beauty of classical compositions such as Robert Schumann's poignant portrayal of Zipsy's life in "Zigeunerleben," Anton Bruckner's ethereal "Locus Iste," and the stirring "Der Sturm" by Hayden.

Dr. Oh's April 7 recital featured a captivating performance of "Le Charpelier" by Erik Satie, inspired by the Mad Hatter from "Alice in Wonderland." This thematic connection resonates with the repertoire showcased in our upcoming chamber singers and chorale concert, where the singers will present a diverse range of classical and contemporary pieces. Experience the enchanting harmonies of Morten Lauridsen's "Dirait-on," a timeless favorite renowned for its beauty and elegance. Furthermore, the inclusion of the instrumental accompaniment by talented JJC student musicians will add depth and texture to the performances, enhancing the overall musical journey.

The program promises an eclectic mix of melodies and rhythms, including Aaron Copland's soulful "At the River," the iconic "Over the Rainbow" and the spirited "Gloria a Dios" performed with Spanish flair. Prepare to be uplifted by Karl Jenkins' jubilant "Exsultate, Jubilate," Frank Ticheli's evocative "Earth Song," and the charming Canadian folk melody of "J'entends le Moulin."

As the concert draws to a close, revel in the combined choirs' powerful rendition of Hayden's "Der Sturm," and the uplifting rendition of "Down by the Riverside' arranged by John Rutter. Join us for an unforgettable musical experience that celebrates the talents of our students and the universal language of music.

This event will be held in the JJC Fine Arts Theatre as well as live streamed on Zoom.
