Chamber Singers and Chorale Concert
The JJC Fine Arts department is delighted to announce our upcoming music concert featuring the JJC Chamber Singers and JJC Chorale. This event is scheduled for Sunday, Dec. 10, at 3 p.m. and will take place at the JJC Fine Arts Theatre (K-1000) on Main Campus. The concert promises to be a captivating showcase of a wide array of musical styles, including captivating Broadway musical theater medleys.
Among the notable pieces to be performed is Hyo-Won Woo's "Cum Santo Spiritu" from the composition Gloria. Gloria stands out as one of Woo's most renowned works, seamlessly blending recognizable Western musical elements with their Korean counterparts to create a synthesis of traditions. This fusion results in new vocal sonorities and effects, making for a moving performance. In addition to these compositions, the concert will feature traditional Christmas classics and contemporary music, including renditions of "Silent Night" and "Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star."
These timeless melodies are presented in a manner that aims to evoke a sense of wonder and nostalgia, allowing us to view familiar questions through the innocent eyes of a child and, perhaps, hear the wisdom of the stars in their twinkling. This unique perspective, delivered through music, invites both contemplation and answers to age-old mysteries. The concert promises to be an unforgettable experience for all who attend.
