  • New Student

If you are enrolling as a first-time student at JJC, you are considered a new student. Joliet Junior College maintains an open enrollment policy. To attend, you must be at least ONE of the following:

    • 18 years of age
    • A high school graduate
    • Earned your GED

If you are under the age of 18, you may be considered as an Early Admission Student (view High School student tab below). In addition, JJC offers a variety Continuing Education and non-credit courses for students of all ages, from youths to seniors. To enroll, simply complete these five steps.

    Steps to Apply:

    1. Complete a JJC application.
    2. Obtain your username and password by visiting the ID/username/password page.
    3. Submit your official, sealed high school transcript or high school equivalency (GED, HiSET, TASC) transcript to the JJC Admissions Office in the Campus Center, room A-1020.

Note to students with foreign transcripts: To prove U.S. high school equivalency, you must have your foreign transcript evaluated. JJC only accepts World Education Services (WES) www.wes.org or Educational Credential Evaluators (ECE) www.ece.org evaluations for review. Please have your evaluation translated to English -- can be general evaluation. In lieu of an evaluation, students may submit official transcripts showing they passed the U.S. General Education Development (GED) test.
    4. Take the Placement Test. Visit The Academic Skills Center website to receive more information on the Placement test, testing centers, and testing resources.
    5. All students who are planning to be Full-Time must attend a New Student Orientation session. Part-Time students are strongly encouraged to attend a New Student Orientation, but not required. Please visit the New Student Orientation page for more information.

Note. There are special admissions processes for Nursing, Vet tech, Radiology, early entry students, high school leavers, and dual credit. The applying processes for these are listed below under "Health and Occupational Science Students".
