On Wednesday, April 26, the top two vote recipients from the 2023 consolidated election were officially sworn in as trustees to the Joliet Junior College Board of Trustees. The board also established its executive team and welcomed the new student trustee.
To serve six -year term:
Results became official following the canvassing of votes by county clerks or board of election commissioners.
Prior to the ceremony, the board recognized outgoing Chairman Dan O’Connell for his 14 combined years of service to the citizens of Illinois Community College District 525. In his remarks, O’Connell expressed his admiration for the work performed by the faculty and staff of the college.
The trustees were sworn in by JJC President Dr. Clyne G. H. Namuo. Morales, Joliet, was first elected to the board in 2017 and will begin her second term as a trustee. Harris of Joliet will serve her first term.
Iyeisha Ellis of Lockport was recognized alongside elected trustees as the newly appointed student trustee. Student trustees are appointed annually and serve in a non-voting capacity. Ellis replaces outgoing student trustee Joshua Stamborski, who will graduate in May and attend a local four-year institution in the following semester.
