Nursing Program Information Session
At its October meeting, the Joliet Junior College (JJC) board of trustees unanimously approved a resolution to begin negotiations for the acquisition of 20 acres of land in Morris, Illinois, marking a significant step forward in the College’s commitment to expand its presence in Grundy County.
The proposed site is part of a 45-acre family-owned farm at the intersection of Rt. 47 and Granville Ave., directly across from Saratoga Elementary School.
In spring 2023 JJC launched an exploratory committee comprised of members of the College and community leaders in Grundy County. From that work data emerged that Grundy County represents untapped potential, with a growing population and rising median income. JJC is uniquely positioned to address the growing demand for a skilled workforce in Grundy County.
The future Grundy County campus will offer a robust suite of academic programs tailored to the region’s evolving needs. Planned academic offerings include career and technical education, general education and industry and workforce development. These programs reflect JJC’s strategic focus on aligning education with regional economic priorities.
Next steps for the process include finalizing a land acquisition contract for the trustees to approve at their Nov. 12 meeting.
“JJC is a community of creators, adaptors and leaders,” said Namuo. “With the board’s upcoming review of the land acquisition contract, the College moves closer to creating a destination where learners can excel for generations."
