Smoke Free Campus

All Joliet Junior College campuses and extension centers are smoke free, effective July 1, 2015.

Smoke Free Campuses

The only permitted exception for smoking on campus is in non-college owned vehicles that are travelling through or parked on campus. Smoking will no longer be permitted in the currently designated smoking areas.

This includes all six campuses and extension centers:

  • Main Campus,
  • City Center Campus
  • Romeoville Campus
  • Morris Education Center
  • Frankfort Education Center
  • Weitendorf Education Center

Maps showing the smoke-free campus campus area are available below. Areas that are smoke free are shaded purple.

The JJC Board of Trustees recently approved a board policy (11.07) that parallels the Smoke Free Campus Act and additionally prohibits the use of any tobacco product including smokeless or chewing tobacco.

This smoking prohibition includes carrying, smoking, burning, inhaling or exhaling any kind of a lighted pipe, cigar, cigarette, hookah, weed, herbs, or other lighted smoking equipment. Also prohibited are e-cigarettes or vapor cigarettes. Violations may be enforced by issuance of citations carrying up to a $250 fine, use of the employee disciplinary process or through the Student Code of Conduct.
