The quality of the learning environment is an essential part of our students' success and retention. A warm, clean and healthy environment allows our students, faculty and staff the opportunity to focus on the academic well-being of our student population. The environment we provide and maintain has a direct impact on the overall "feel" of the campuses; the physical representation of the campus' culture, values, goals and direction. It is our goal to not simply maintain the overall quality of all our campus environments, but to continually strive to increase the quality and level of service we are able to provide to the students, faculty, staff and general college community.
To this end, we seek:
Weekdays & Early Evenings: The custodial department provides general building support daily, which includes public area and restroom care, on-call faculty and staff assistance, and event support.
Weeknights: Monday - Friday evenings, custodial services are provided to classrooms, office, culinary/food service, and public areas across campus. All services are done to meet APPA appearance level 1 & 2.
Saturday: General building support provided from 8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.
Saturday Afternoon/Evening & Sunday: Custodial services are generally not provided during these times. For specific coverage during these times, please contact the Custodial Superintendent for more information.

Joliet Junior College has an extensive recycling program. The college maintains approximately 1200 recycling containers that are located throughout the campuses. Through a single commingled recycling stream, we recycle aluminum cans, plastic and glass bottles, cardboard, colored paper, computer paper, NCR paper, newsprint, office white paper, and phone books. In addition to our standard recycling, JJC also recycles in-house printer ink toner cartridges, large-scale cardboard, scrap metal, e-waste (in conjunction with IT), and college generated hazardous waste (for more information regarding hazardous waste, please contact Environmental, Health and Safety).

The Maintenance Department, a division of Facility Services is a diverse group who works continually to maintain facilities that are safe, comfortable, efficient, and conducive to those here to learn and work. We dedicate ourselves to provide professional services that repair, adjusts, maintains, and modernizes the campus structures and equipment to meet the needs of our students, internal and external partners and visitors. Our goal is to provide outstanding services in support of a learning and work environment that is welcoming. Project Management staff are located in L-building and work in the planning and developing stages of the college's buildings and grounds. The management team provides outstanding customer service, technical expertise (combining functional architecture and engineering) and construction management services necessary in the design and erection of construction projects.
