JJC's Laura A. Sprague Art Gallery will host its annual Area High School Art Exhibition beginning Monday, Nov...
Add a furry friend to your family! At the end of each semester, we try our hardest to adopt out our dogs and cats to loving homes. See below for adoption policies and procedures, animals available for adoption, and our adoption application and questionnaire.

JJC's Veterinary Medical Technology program allows students to gain hands-on experience with real animals from local shelters. Cats and dogs are brought to campus each semester, where they are cared for by students and faculty, until they are adopted out to good homes.
The program is fully accredited by the Committee on Veterinary Technician Education and Activities (CVTEA) of the American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA). Upon completion of the VMTP, graduates are eligible to take the Veterinary Technician National Exam (VTNE) for licensure in Illinois.

Male Neutered | Domestic Shorthair | Black
Estimated DOB: 4/25/2023 | 6 lbs.
Atlantico is as cuddly as a cat can get. He will never say no to a good snuggle sesh and is always up for snacks. No matter where you are, Atlantico is in your lap getting comfy for a quick snooze. He is down to play with his feline friends, but has just as much fun with the humans. He is still young and still very playful and it's been so fun to watch him thrive. He has definitely won over the hearts of many of us in the program and we will be sad to see him leave, but excited for his future family to share the love!
Female Spayed | Domestic Shorthair | Tabby
Estimated DOB: 3/03/2023 | 6 lbs.
Biscuit, the Tasmanian Devil running amuck. Her microphthalmia doesn't stop her as she is a BALL of energy! We don't suspect her eye is giving her any troubles although we are unsure of the cause (sometimes they are simply born with it). If problems occur in the future for this sweet girl, her weak eye may need to be removed, even though we are unable to predict that outcome. Her eye meds also tend to make her a little greasy as she rubs her eye and then grooms herself. Despite her disability, she goes crazy for snacks and toys. She is SUPER playful!

BOCELLI | ADOPTED!
Male Neutered | Domestic Shorthair | Black
Estimated DOB: 8/25/2021 | 12 lbs.
***** FIV POSITIVE *****
Bocelli, or Broccoli as we call him, is the sweetest thing. He is almost identical to our other friend, Gator, although not from the same litter! He IS FIV positive, which simply means that he is immunocompromised. He should be taken to the vet yearly for checkups, but other than extra caution around sick animals, he is in perfect health! He would be happy to go to a home full of friends to play with whether they are human, or feline!
CADET | ADOPTED!
Male Neutered | Domestic Shorthair | Orange/White
Estimated DOB: 1/31/2023 | 10 lbs.
Cadet is our only orange boy this semester in a room full of black cats…gave him quite the ego boost… He’s an independent soul, but a lover nonetheless. A 10 month old cat with a 10 year old’s personality; he is sassy but quiet. He’d prefer to be the only king of the castle although some friends he’ll tolerate. He enjoys long walks on the break room table and an abundance of snacks. Also, per his instructions, the belly rubs should be continued until he says so. We can’t wait to find the perfect home for this creamsicle.
CORALINE | ADOPTED!
Female Spayed | Domestic Shorthair | Black & White Tuxedo
Estimated DOB: 8/31/2022 | 8 lbs.
Coraline, who in fact does NOT have buttons for eyes, is the sweetest girl. She has chubby cheeks and sweet loveable eyes. She is our only Tuxedo this semester and struts around with confidence. Coraline is the queen of all of our cats but she plays well with everyone. She gets along well with our canine friends as well! Coraline is absolutely perfect!
HAILIE | ADOPTED!
Female Spayed | Domestic Shorthair | Gray Tabby
Estimated DOB: 7/31/2022 | 10 lbs.
Hailie is a big love bug. She is not bothered by dogs and loves her feline sisters within the program. She is quiet and docile and doesn't require much to be the happiest girl in the world. It helps, too, that she's absolutely beautiful with a gray coat and bright green eyes. Surrounded by a crowd of our feisty and rambunctious program cats, she is entirely unbothered. She is living her best life! Ask us more about our sweet Hailie!

GARFUNKEL | ADOPTED!
Male Neutered | Domestic Shorthair | Tabby
Estimated DOB: 9/05/2023 | 8 lbs.
Garfunkel is the best boy. He loves to be held and cuddled like a baby but will also flop on his back and demand belly rubs. He is extremely playful and gets along with all of our cats in the program! He is not bothered by the dogs from what we can tell but he does tell you when he's tapped out. He'll let you carry him around as long as he gets lots of snacks. This boy is ready for a good home!

GATOR | ADOPTED!
Male Neutered | Domestic Shorthair | Black & White
Estimated DOB: 8/9/2022 | 13 lbs.
Gator man. He lives up to his name because the second he those paws hit the ground, he's rolling around. A quiet lovebug, he's shy but just wants to be held. He has chubby cheeks and an all black coat...except for the smallest white tip to his tail. He loves to play but he's a boy and sometimes tries to show his dominance. There are a few feline friends that he will tolerate during playtime. Unsure of his opinion on dogs...will ask. Please reach out if you're interested in Gator.
MARVIN (No Applications Yet)
Male Neutered | Domestic Shorthair | Tabby
Estimated DOB: 2/14/2023 | 8 lbs.
Marvin is a little mischievous. He definitely needs frequent enrichment as his ADHD gets the best of him. Just kidding, but he does require playtime as he's still young and has lots of energy. He has an eye-catching coat with light green eyes. He is so pretty that he actually was suspected to be a female at first (previously known as "Mary"). Everyone's in luck, he is officially a male...a little less now as he is neutered. This hasn't slowed him down a bit, he still has his kitten temperament, and he could play for hours! He is very food motivated and will never say no to a good belly rub. Please don't hesitate to reach out if you're interested in our Mary/Marvin!

SMALL FRY (No Applications Yet)
Male Neutered | Domestic Shorthair | Gray Tabby
Estimated DOB: 7/13/2022 | 9 lbs.
His name may be Small Fry, but he’s got a BIG personality and a few fun quirks! Between his unique coloring, his stunning eyes and his funny kinked tail, he is one dapper young cat! And he’s not just all looks; he’s as playful and loving as he ia good looking! Small Fry is fully vetted and ready for a good home!

WILLIAM (No Applications Yet)
Male Neutered | Domestic Shorthair | Brown/Black Tabby
Estimated DOB: 7/13/2022 | 12 lbs.
WIlliam, William, William. What a little weirdo. He likes to cuddle...sometimes...and then he changes his mind and wants to run the parameter of the room in 0.3 seconds. He has the chubbiest face and the biggest green eyes. Sometimes goes by Bill, Billiam, Billy, Spicy Kitty, etc. Unsure how he feels about dogs, but some of our program cats have learned just how to push his buttons. He's definitely got a unique personality and isn't changing for anybody! Let's find him the best home with a lot of playtime and room to run!
WILLOW | ADOPTED!
Female (spay pending) | Domestic Shorthair | Tabby
Estimated DOB: 7/31/2022 | 7 lbs.
Our sweet Willow. This poor girl has struggled with an upper respiratory infection for the entire duration of her stay with us. We have done nebulizer treatments, Albuterol, saline drops, antibiotics, etc. This is why she has yet to be spayed, we want to make sure she perfectly healthy before we do anything. Throughout all of the struggle, she has stayed true to her character. What character is that? THE BEST SNUGGLER EVER. This girl will give the best cuddles no matter who's holding her. We are working to make her feel better, but she is still the sweetest most gentle kitten. I say kitten, but she is just over a year old, although she acts like a sweet old lady. We love this angel!

Note
Please note, we do not do cross-species testing unless requested. Animal behavior information is based on interactions with staff and students. All animals in Joliet Junior College’s care will be spayed or neutered, fully vaccinated, Heartworm or FeLV/FIV tested, administered Flea/Tick and Heartworm prevention monthly, have intestinal parasite testing and treatment, and presurgical/wellness bloodwork run prior to adoption.
It is our policy to make certain that each person who adopts a pet is aware of the responsibilities of pet guardianship and is capable of and willing to accept those responsibilities morally, physically and financially. Not every person who desires to adopt a pet should do so. By completing our adoption form and questionnaire, you will aid us in determining if you and your family are indeed ready for pet guardianship, and if the pet of your interest would suit you and your lifestyle. Should you agree that adopting a pet is a commitment throughout the lifetime of your companion animal, please fill out our adoption application form and questionnaire.
BETTY WHITE | ADOPTED!
Female Spayed | Beagle | Gray & Tan
Estimated DOB: 7/05/2019 | 15 lbs.
Betty White, our sweet old lady. Except, Betty is actually only 4 years old! Uniquely enough, most of our beagles were rescued safely from a research facility. What we could only assume is a reaction of her time in the lab, her fur has become the most perfect little old lady gray. She definitely doesn't act that way, though! She plays like a puppy with all of her beagle friends in the program. She loves to run and only barks to tell her beagle brothers to give her space. She gets the zoomies and runs faster than some of our big dogs! She goes crazy for snuggles and being held like a baby. Miss Betty White is sure to bring a smile to anyone's face!
DOLLY PARTON | ADOPTED!
Female Spayed | Beagle | Tri-Color
Estimated DOB: 7/30/2019 | 18 lbs.
Miss Dolly Parton. The most photogenic beagle you'll ever meet. Docile, gentle, and quiet. Just wants to be held...everywhere. Would prefer to be in a baby carrier saddled to someone's chest for the rest of her life but will settle for being a happy beagle. She would also prefer the biggest, fluffiest, softest blanket to curl into for a good snooze. When she's not snoozing, she's playing with her besties in the play yard. She lets out the smallest bark while playing with her friends but other than that, no sound! Those big brown eyes get us every time. She works 9-5 being the best girl. Everybody loves Dolly Parton!
EAGLE | ADOPTED!
Male Neutered | Shepherd Mix | Tan
Estimated DOB: 9/01/2022 | 57 lbs.
Eagle, let’s just say this boy has more energy than we can keep up with. Don’t let that fool you though, a house full of kids to keep him active would be PERFECT. The poor soul came to us pretty malnourished with very little muscle mass. Luckily, our amazing vet techs have been giving him all the food in the world alongside some probiotics and this boy is healthier than ever! He LOVES Sally and Ghost…the energy of those 3 combined is unmatched. They will play for hours if you let them. He’d do best with older kids as he’s a strong boy and could easily underestimate his own strength. He definitely needs a home that will allow him endless hours to burn that energy. We love our Eagle and we hope to find the best family for our sweet boy!
GHOST | ADOPTED!
Male Neutered | Pitbull Mix | Tan & Black & White
Estimated DOB: 9/30/2021 | 48 lbs.
Ghost. This sweet face acts like a puppy but is a whopping 2 years old. He LOVES to play and has the agility of a cheetah. He loves his chewy ball and enjoys climbing on our picnic benches. If you let him, he'll chew on his ball for HOURS. He is the king of the play yard but plays PERFECTLY with his friends. Enjoys playing solo in the corner with his chew toy, but also joins the big dog gang for a good run around the yard. He would do best with a family that can keep up with that puppy energy because, boy, does he love to play! As loyal as it gets, he will be someone’s best friend soon enough. The kisses are endless with this lover boy! Please spread the word about our Ghost!
HARLEY - Adoption Pending...
Female Spayed | Beagle | Tri-Color
Estimated DOB: 11 years old | 31 lbs.
Harley is our sweet (oldest) lady of the group. 11 years old, (estimated) but never shows it. Although she is a beagle, she actually did not come from the same rescue as our other beagle friends. Harley had a previous family who, due to unfortunate circumstances, could no longer care for her. So now she is living her best life and getting all the snacks she could ever want. Lots and lots of peanut butter Kongs for this sweet face. Harley absolutely lives up to the beagle name...girlfriend has a bark, we won't deny that. But, it is all for attention and we can only assume she is in quite a bit of a confusing time for her. All she wants is love and affection and we are doing our best to give her all of it during her time with us!
HAZEL - Adoption Pending...
Female Spayed | Chihuahua Mix | Tan & White
Estimated DOB: 10 years old | 11 lbs.
Hazel is an old lady with lots of love to give. She would probably do best with an older owner who can give her all of the attention in the world. Although she doesn't mind other dogs, she is a smaller girl and can easily be overwhelmed. She is rather quiet and only uses her voice when she needs to (aka, to tell the beagles to leave her alone). She has a whopping 2 teeth left and would most likely need them extracted at some point (if not done here...will keep everyone updated). Feel free to reach out for more info on Hazel.
MANDO | ADOPTED!
Male Neutered | Beagle | Tri-Color
Estimated DOB: 2/01/2019 | 19 lbs.
Mando...Mandalorian to be exact...is one of 2 of our beagle boys this semester. He has the sweetest gray face with the energy of a puppy. We lucked out with all of these beagles as they are all so well behaved! However, Mando has shown us that he is unsure about bigger dogs. We can only assume the poor thing has never even seen a dog larger than himself and is very confused about this concept. Not to worry though, he gets along WONDERFULLY with his beagle friends as well as Hazel and Oreo (our other small fur babies). He will never turn down a treat, but boy does he burn it off with all the zoomies he runs! Please reach out if you're interested in learning more about our Mando!
NORMAN | ADOPTED!
Male Neutered | Doodle | White & Tan & Gray
Estimated DOB: 9/05/2022 | 37 lbs.
Normie! The most obedient doodle you'll ever meet. Per breed standard, he has an abundance of energy. He is a curious george and loves to explore on his walks. He is a very loyal lap dog with too much love to give. When he first arrived, we gave him a good shave to remove the unfortunate matting. As his coat grows back, he is becoming more confident in his own skin. The most contagious smile makes us think he would be great with kids. Some dogs don't match his energy, but with an open yard this boy will run free on his own! We are unsure of his exact temperament with each breed, but so far smaller dogs are too fragile for his energy level. Playdates can be set up for test runs if anyone is interested in this sweet boy!
OBI | ADOPTED!
Male Neutered | Beagle | Tri-Color
Estimated DOB: 6/01/2019 | 23 lbs.
Obi-Wan Kenobi...we assume to be his real name...is one of 2 of our beagle boys this semester. He has the SWEETEST squishiest face with eyebrows that make him look fierce and distinguished. This boy will RUN LAPS if you let him. We think he was a race horse in his past life. He has followed in his fellow beagle brother's footsteps and become quite unsure of the bigger dogs...but plays so kindly with the smaller fur babies in the program. He's tough but melts in your arms the second he's scooped up. Our sweet Obi is ready to find his furr-ever home!
OREO | ADOPTED!
Male Neutered | Shih Tzu Mix | Black & White & Gray
Estimated DOB: 5 years old | 6 lbs.
Oreo is about as small as an Oreo. Due to his size, he'd be happiest living his life in a baby sling, traveling with you wherever you go. He knows how to get attention by doing his happy dance. He jumps up and down with his paws in the air begging to be held. Don't let him fool you though, he has little dog syndrome. In Oreo's head, he is the size of a Great Dane and no one can tell him otherwise. He has captured the hearts of a few of our students but we know he will be loved wherever he ends up!
SALLY - Adoption Pending...
Female Spayed | Shepherd Mix | Tan & Black
Estimated DOB: 1 year old | 40 lbs.
Sally bo bally. The best girl. The alligator you never knew you needed. Seriously though, she will flop and roll like an alligator, begging for belly rubs. She gives the best kisses and the best hugs. With her bright brown eyes, she has the face of a forever puppy that melted all of our hearts. She plays PERFECTLY with all of the program animals and has not shown any signs of aggression. If a fellow dog makes her mad, she walks away to find a new friend. She is a shepherd mix on appearance, but we don't know for sure. I know I will be heartbroken to see her go but cannot wait to watch her thrive!
WILMA | ADOPTED!
Female Spayed | Pitbull Mix | Brown Brindle & White
Estimated DOB: 2 years old | 55 lbs.
WILMA! The SWEETEST pittie with an old soul. She gets along with all of our program animals although she doesn't let them walk all over her. She has the biggest smile and the biggest heart. She has had a previous litter (unsure of how many) and it shows, but she is officially spayed and happier than ever. She loves to give kisses and seems to think she's a lap dog. She's super quiet and gentle and although we have not tested her with small children, we do not see any signs of aggression. She is the queen of this semester, and our hearts will break to watch her go. We cannot wait to find her the best family.
