The Streitz's Giving Story

Dr. Thomas and Susan (Davis) Streitz, class of ’52 and ’51, are proud JJC alumni that choose to give back because they know their gift matters. Scroll down to make your gift today.

“Joliet Junior College gave us a great gift. Our education and the professors were outstanding. That’s why we give back - so the college can continue to offer great classes and programs for students at a low cost,” Thomas said.

Both Thomas and Susan graduated from Joliet Township High School before attending JJC. Because of the wonderful opportunities JJC gave, Thomas was accepted to Loyola University School of Dentistry, which gave him the experience he needed to open a dental practice with his brother on Jefferson Street in Joliet in 1956. Susan went on to attend Beloit College in Wisconsin and later became an English and physical education teacher at Wilmington High School.

“JJC was life changing. It gave me opportunities that I wouldn’t have had otherwise; my family had five children,” Susan said. “We give to JJC because we believe in its value.”

Dr. Streitz was instrumental in founding the JJC Alumni Association in 1970 and served as the Association’s first president. In 2005, he was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Achievement Award.   He and Susan have been married for 63 years and they have four children. Their son and grandsons carry on the Streitz Dental Arts practice on Campbell Street in Joliet.
