The Joliet Junior College Police Department is enjoying stronger communication functions thanks to a recently established partnership with the Will County Emergency Management Agency.
The department began utilizing the new radio system in fall 2017 as part of a beta-testing period, during which it worked with other local agencies to identify and solve any issues. The transition became official later that semester following approval from the JJC Board of Trustees. The 10-year intergovernmental agreement with the county allows JJCPD stronger communications coverage.
"The benefits of being on this system will only increase as more area departments come on board, providing additional interoperability in emergencies," said Pete Comanda, JJC police chief. "We are thankful to Will County EMA Director Harold Damron for the opportunity to be a part of such a robust, state of the art system and look forward to a long relationship."
