LPN to RN Transition Application


This application is for licensed LPNs in Illinois who want to become RNs.

Complete the online application only during the October 15 to October 31 for the Spring term. An application timeline is provided within the application.

Important Information about applying

  1. The LPN to RN Transition application is available October 15 to October 31 to begin the nursing program in the Spring term.  
  2. You must have a current general admissions application on file. If not, complete an online admissions application. (If you have taken classes at JJC but more than one year has passed since the conclusion of your most recent semester then you must complete a new JJC application.)
  3. To complete the nursing application, you need to know your JJC student ID#, be able to log into your college account, and provide proof of your Active LPN license for the state of Illinois.
  4. If you haven’t already, submit an official, sealed high school transcript or high school equivalency (GED or HiSET) transcript to the JJC Admissions Office at Admissions@jjc.edu or drop it off in the Campus Center, room A-1020.
  5. If you are a transfer student, courses and grades from your previous institutions must have already been posted to your JJC academic record.
  6. Show verification of all general education courses and prerequisites completed with a grade "C" or better PRIOR to submitting the nursing application beginning with the October 2025 application period.

    General education courses and prerequisites are listed below:

    • BIO 250 – Human Anatomy & Physiology I (4 credits)
    • BIO 251 – Human Anatomy & Physiology II (4 credits)
    • BIO 240 – Microbiology (4 credits)
    • COMM 101 – Principles of Communication (3 credits)
    • ENG 101 – Rhetoric I (3 credits)
    • HEAL 109 – Principles of Normal Nutrition (2 credits)
    • NURS 100 – Introduction to Nursing (1 credit)
    • PSYC 101- (General Psychology) (3 credits)
    • Elective Course Requirement (4 credits) – Students should use BIO 149 or BIO 151 to satisfy this requirement and fulfill the prerequisite for upper-level BIO courses.
       
  7. TEAS 7 completed at JJC by the application deadline.
  8. A minimum overall JJC GPA of 2.0
  9. If you already submitted an online nursing application for any previous semester, you still need to submit a new application. No previous applications are kept on file.
