The Joliet Junior College (JJC) Wolves competitive cheerleading team capped a successful season with a third-place finish at the 2025 NCA & NDA College Nationals in Daytona Beach, Florida.
During the preliminary round, the Wolves scored 87.86 out of 90 possible points to advance to the finals. They scored 89.70 in the final round to finish with an overall event score of 89.2430 to take third in the Intermediate All Girl Junior College division.
"This team has exceeded every expectation," said Wolves head coach Tiffany Scholle. "Their growth, resilience and commitment to one another have been incredible to watch. They've proven that with passion and hard work, anything is possible. We're incredibly proud to place third in the nation in just our second competitive season.
“Our division has more than doubled in size, and the level of competition was higher than ever, which makes this accomplishment even more meaningful. More than anything, we're proud of how we performed at the event — we left it all on the floor and showcased the heart, talent and determination that define us. This is a huge milestone for our team, and we're excited for what's ahead."
Last year, the Wolves finished second in their division, going two-for-two in podium finishes for the JJC competitive cheer program.
"Being a part of the JJC cheer team and getting the opportunity to compete at NCA Nationals twice has been amazing, but it's not making the podium back-to-back that I'll always carry with me,” said sophomore Ava Aguirre. “It's the family bonds I've created with the athletes and coaches that I'll always hold on to.
"You don't come across a team as hard-working and dedicated as ours often, and while we always strive for greatness, we never let our bond of trust and family break. I'm so happy to have been able to be a part of the JJC cheerleading program. I'll always be a winner having been part of a team like that."
Earlier this year, the Wolves participated in the first-ever NJCAA Competitive Cheerleading Invitational in Salt Lake City, where they finished as national runners-up.
