Joliet Junior College (JJC) is pleased to announce a $15,000 contribution by Midland States Bank. The grant, provided by the Midland States Bank Foundation, will support the Jewell Dennis Tribute to Men of Color Scholarship in the JJC Foundation.
“The Foundation is grateful for community partners like the Midland States Bank Foundation who are willing to support our mission and our students,” said Kristi Mulvey, executive director of institutional advancement at JJC. “Thanks to partners like them, the Foundation is able to provide life-changing scholarships and emergency funds to students who may not be able to pursue their education otherwise.”
The JJC Foundation was established in 1973 to raise and manage private dollars for scholarships, capital funds, program enhancement and enrichment, endowment and other priority needs that support the mission and vision of the college. The Foundation awarded more than $870,000 in scholarships and student emergency funds in 2022 and aspires to award $1 million in 2023. In addition to student support, the Foundation annually provides $50,000 in Awards for Excellence and Innovation to faculty and staff for special projects and programs.
“Together with our Community Impact Investment Statement, the Midland States Bank Foundation is a powerful way for us to give back to our communities,” commented Jeffrey G. Ludwig, president and CEO of Midland States Bancorp, Inc. “The funds we set aside from the Bank’s profits help us put our company’s culture in action to benefit the communities we serve.”
September 2023 will mark the JJC Foundation’s 50th anniversary. All giving options, funds and Foundation board information can be found on the Foundation website.
