JJC Police Department Receives $5,000 Donation for Flock Cameras

The Joliet Junior College Police Department has received a $5,000 donation from Will County State’s Attorney James Glasgow to purchase two automated license plate recognition devices, also known as flock cameras.

These cameras assist law enforcement in preventing crime by alerting them when a stolen car or known wanted suspect enters an area. The license plate recognition cameras let police search by vehicle make, color, type and license plate; identify the state of the license plate; and capture temporary plates. They also capture vehicles with a missing, covered or paper plate; unique additions like bumper stickers and roof racks; and vehicles without plates.

“The safety of our students, faculty and staff here at JJC is paramount,” said JJC Police Chief Brandon Campbell. “It is important to leverage every available technology so that we continue to fulfill our overall mission of protecting and serving the entire JJC community.”

Glasgow presented the check to JJC president Dr. Clyne Namuo and Chief Campbell at the June Board of Trustees meeting.
