The Joliet Junior College Communications and Marketing Division took home four Medallion Awards at the National Council for Marketing and Public Relations (NCMPR) District 3 conference Sept. 29 – Oct. 1 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
The college took home gold medals in the flyer, outdoor media and wild card categories, and earned second place for excellence in writing.
“I am so proud of the creativity, skill, and innovation our team brings to the college each and every day,” said Kelly Rohder-Tonelli, executive director of communications and marketing. “It’s very special to receive this recognition from peers in the industry and to know that our work is impactful.”
The college’s gold medal-winning flyer, produced by Graphic Designer Demetra Pappas, promoted the JJC Fine Arts Ensemble Series. Graphic Designer Shawn McGuan’s outdoor media, which appeared at local Metra Stations, won first place in that category. Marketing Content Specialist Sam Sottosanto earned a second place Excellence in Writing award for her Connections Magazine story on aerospace engineering student Joe Siwa. The Marketing and Creative Services team also won first place in the wild card category for its community outreach materials, that feature branded boxes containing important program, registration and financial aid information. These boxes are distributed primarily at local community based recruitment events and are provided to our feeder high school guidance counselors so that they can in turn provide helpful information about JJC to their students.
NCMPR District 3 includes community colleges in Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Ohio, Wisconsin and the Canadian province of Ontario.
There were over 300 total submissions across 37 award categories. Those earning a top three finish were recognized at the regional conference, with Illinois community colleges taking home 44 total awards.
