The new Joliet Junior College Police Department facility is ready for its grand opening Wednesday, Aug. 10 at G-Building on Main Campus. The celebration will begin with a ceremony at 3:30 p.m. followed by refreshments and building tours.
Expanding and remodeling the campus police facility was a seven-month project, allowing the space to grow more than 4.5 times its former size, from approximately 2,700 square feet to nearly 13,600 square feet. New additions and improvements include:
“The new police facility is an important project as campus police is an integral part in providing safety and security for our students, faculty and staff,” said Rick Lyman, manager of construction and facility operations at JJC. “The new facility provides for complete modernization of the operations to allow JJC Campus Police to perform their duties that were previously more difficult due to lack of required needs."
