Career Assessment for the Undecided Student


While there is no assessment that will tell you what you should do, career assessment information can be very useful in helping people make decisions about what to study and how to choose a career.

FOCUS 2 is a self-paced career and education planning tool. This resource helps you make decisions about future career goals and education plans. FOCUS 2 provides self-assessments to help you identify your top work interests, values, skills, personality type, and leisure time interests. In addition, FOCUS 2 helps you explore occupations and major areas of study compatible with your personal and career goals.

Getting Started with Focus 2

  1. Complete the Self-Assessment Sections
    • First-time Users: Create a new account. Use the following ACCESS CODE when prompted: Wolves
    • Returning Users: Log on (using the account you have already created)
  2. Fill out the Decision-Making Matrix
  3. Schedule an Appointment
    • Very Important: Complete the following 5 self-assessments before your scheduled appointment with a Career Coach: Work Interest, Values, Personality, Skills, and Leisure.
    • Schedule an Undecided Student Exploring Major/Career appointment by calling 815.280.2756 or through the Navigate portal.

Typically, the total time students spend the first time they use FOCUS 2 ranges from 1 to 2 hours. Of course, you can spend as much time as you wish.

The Career Readiness & Self-Assessment modules of FOCUS 2 can be completed in approximately 45 minutes. You can log in at any time to spend additional time researching over 1,000 occupations and viewing career videos.
