Office of Student Activities and Wellness

The Office of Student Activities and Wellness, in collaboration with the campus community, provides opportunities for the development of the whole student through “outside of the classroom” activities by offering a rich variety of educational, wellness, and social programs. Involvement in campus life will enhance future possibilities for lifelong learning, employment, and healthy choices.

The Office of Student Activities provides an integral part of the total learning process at JJC. We offer a wide variety of the social and recreational activities through clubs and coordinate a regular schedule of OSA sponsored cultural, educational, and wellness programming. Through various clubs, organizations, and activities, students have the opportunity to add another dimension to the college experience. We encourage students to participate in a wide range of the opportunities available.

Social Media

Student Activities is on social media. You can see event pictures, announcements of upcoming programs and students being engaged on campus through these outlets. Check us out on Facebook (JJC Student Activities), Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/jjc_osa/), Snapchat (@jjc_osa) and Twitter (https://twitter.com/jjc_osa).

Community Events

OSA collaborates with Campus Police and Environmental Health and Safety for a Tribute to 9/11 each year and with Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery Memorial Squad for a Veteran’s Day Ceremony. Student Activities in conjunction with clubs on campus may host community events as well (for example, Trunk or Treat). The public is invited to these events. Information about community events will be found on the JJC Community Calendar.

Current student can access the full schedule in MyJJC.

  • Clubs

Over 30 clubs are available for students to join. New clubs are created with 10 interested students, an advisor and paperwork. Collegiate Club Council meets monthly to approve finance requests and encourage collaboration among the clubs. Clubs range in type from professional/career-related to special interest, to multicultural, to advocacy to spiritual and others.

  • Wellness Programming

The Student Wellness program at JJC offers programs to encourage wellness related to college students.

  • Large Events Open to all Students

Welcome Weeks held the first week of each semester, collaborations with other departments for cultural events, Spring Flings, Mainstreet recruiting and informational fairs, and much more.

  • Comfort Zones

From November to March (before Spring break), OSA hosts Comfort Zones for our evening students. Free soup and hot beverages and showcasing student talent, the coffeehouse atmosphere is a chance for evening students to meet before classes and enjoy some free food.

  • Passport to Student Success

Each semester, OSA creates a passport that lists the various events a student can attend outside the classroom. By attending events, students can win prizes and become a more involved student at JJC!
