JJC Athletics will host a Block Out Cancer double-header to pay tribute to all who have fought and continue to fight breast cancer. The Wolves will take on Moraine Valley Community College in a women's basketball scrimmage at 5 p.m. followed by a women's volleyball game at 7 p.m.
The special event will also serve as a fundraiser to help local breast cancer awareness organizations.
Two women who have fought breast cancer will also be recognized during the event. Long-time JJC employee Cheryl Nixon, who lost her battle in 2018, will be honored at half-time of the women's basketball game. Former JJC volleyball All-American Anne Marino, a survivor who fundraises to give back to the Rush University Cancer Center and Pink Heals Joliet Area Chapter, will be recognized before the volleyball game.
Pink Heals Joliet will have their pink fire engine and squad car on display in front of the Event Center. Members will also be on hand with information on their mission of supporting women and their families in times of need, no matter the illness.
