Census 2020: Make Sure Illinois Counts

Joliet Junior College employees, students and community members are invited to attend an informational Census2020 event on Monday, Oct. 21. The event will take place from 6-7 p.m. at the JJC Library on the second floor of A-Building at Main Campus, 1215 Houbolt Road.

The event will also be live streamed at JJC’s extended campuses at Romeoville, RMA -1019; and City Center, Library room 6005. Romeoville Campus is located at 1125 W. Romeo Street in Romeoville, and City Center is at 235 N. Chicago Street in Joliet.

Speakers will include Joseph Natale, chief deputy director for the Illinois State Library, on behalf of the Illinois Complete Count Commission; and Verenise Alvarez, Get Out the Count (GOTC) campaign coordinator with the Spanish Community Center.  

On April 1, 2020, a census will be taken of all persons living in the United States. It is important that every Illinois resident be counted so the state population accurately reflects its needs. Those wanting to learn more, or have questions or concerns about the counting process are encouraged to attend.
