Emily Marino begins her eighth season as the Head Softball Coach at Joliet Junior College.
Last season the Lady Wolves had an overall record of 20-29-1 and finished with an 8-7 N4C conference record. Over the past seven seasons, Marino has accumulated 142 victories while coaching 27 N4C all-conference players, 20 all-region players, and four NJCAA Division III All-Americans. She has had three catchers receive the NFCA Diamond Catcher of the Year award.
Marino is a graduate of Joliet Catholic Academy. At JCA, she was a standout volleyball, basketball, and softball player earning 10 varsity letters. In 2008, she was inducted into the East Suburban Catholic Conference Hall of Fame for her accomplishments throughout her high school career.
Marino went on to play softball at the University of Florida where she was a four-year starting catcher/ first baseman. It was been over a decade since she played at Florida, but Emily still is tied for first in intentional walks (9), second in walks (138) and is third in games started (267). She ranks fifth in games played (269) and putouts (1169). She is sixth in RBI's (150) and ranked seventh for fielding percentage (.988) and doubles (41). She is listed as ninth in home runs (28) and is tenth in hits (217).
Coach Marino is a graduate of the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in recreational science. After graduation, she spent a summer in Italy playing professional softball. She then moved to Nashville, Tenn., where she was employed at Worth Club K as a softball instructor. Recently, Emily earned her Master's degree from Northwestern University in sports management.
Marino currently resides in Joliet, Ill.
Michelle Combes
Assistant Softball Coach
Michelle Combes starts her fifth season as an assistant coach for the Joliet Junior College Lady Wolves softball team.
A graduate of Wilmington High School, Combes was a varsity softball pitcher throughout all four years of school.
Michelle has coached youth league softball as well as working as a pitching instructor at Baseball Arena in Wilmington. She is currently finishing her degree in early childhood education at the University of St. Francis.
Coach Combes resides in Wilmington, Ill.
