The JJC English and World Languages Department is a diverse academic department offering transfer coursework in literature, philosophy, journalism, writing (both expository and creative), and foreign languages.
The department has a strong commitment to the teaching of composition, especially exposition and argumentation. In addition, developmental coursework serves those students who need additional preparation in reading and writing before they take transfer offerings.
Developmental education at Joliet Junior College (JJC) is a social and economic imperative which enriches students' lives through affordable, accessible, and quality programs and services. The developmental education system is committed to bridging educational gaps in students' backgrounds so that they can be successful in post-secondary education and training.
