Institutional Effectiveness Report

The Institutional Effectiveness Report (IER) is written by the Program Improvement Committee, which is made up of a cross-representation of college stakeholders that includes faculty, administrators, and students.  The report is submitted as a recommendation to the college president and the senior leadership team.  Upon the president's approval, it is adopted as a data source for planning decisions. The authority to act on the identified priorities is given through the institutional budget approved by the Board of Trustees.

The Institutional Effectiveness Report summarizes recent progress, presents future plans, and proposes recommendations for action. It is the source of results included in the college's AQIP Portfolio and the birthplace of AQIP action projects. The continuous quality improvement process through which the Institutional Effectiveness Report is developed is designed to produce a sustainable and synergistic approach to college planning and reporting as it supports the college's decision-making processes related to strategic, financial, and master planning, and project prioritization. The IER accomplishes this through the collection of program and unit level data and input, and through the establishment of a transparent evaluative process as the collected information is reviewed at the division and college levels.  It is intended to be a comprehensive look at all aspects of college functions, both academic and administrative support.

The IER functions as an internal report prepared annually and is used to identify the institution's operational and personnel priorities and goals. It directs institution activities toward strategic goals based on annual evaluations that measure meaningful outcomes at unit/program, division, and institution levels. This information is collected each year through the completion of the Annual Program Update (APU). Though the IER informs yearly budget decisions, those budget decisions are not an automated process nor does inclusion in the IER equal funding approval.  The completion of the APU does assist the units and programs in preparing funding requests to submit through the institution's Financial Planning process.
